The Gospel of Mary

·

I was raised to question everything. This wasn’t a principle introduced by a family or a culture I was raised in such as a church. I got it from ’80s punk rock. Question the government. Question our culture. Question authority. So, what I see, and it was especially highlighted during the pandemic, is how the majority of people do not do this. It was as if they heard something three times from any source regardless of whether it was true and that made it true. It was accepted as true because they chose to believe the unproven information they were told. This is what I would consider a definition of a sheep in human form would be. Now there’s nothing wrong with sheep. In fact, this is the way our world works. Sheep just aren’t leaders. We weren’t all created to be leaders or have that as our purpose. Those that question and decide for themselves are leaders or could be called shepherds. It’s a lonely place to be at times and when you “lose your religion”, you are on shaky ground and your carpet where you stand has been pulled out from under you. However, you are able to rebuild, be reborn and move forward with your own beliefs. This is what we all need.

I speak about this because recently I’ve been reading the Apocrypha and the Nag Hamadi texts. These are the uncanonical books of the Bible, meaning they were not accepted by the current religious leaders then or now. This newly discovered texts directly challenge our view of Jesus’ teaching. I am especially interested in the role of Mary Magdalene. There is actually a book called The Gospel of Mary and in it discusses unique ideas that are different than the Gospels in the Bible we know. This book speaks about how salvation isn’t about following religious rules and rituals, but about discovering your own Spiritual Path and the Truth within yourself. This is how I believe. This is an accordance to the channeled works that I read and listen to, as well as what my Medium mentions via my Guide and Soul Family. The Church held the power as the only way to salvation, whereas the Gospel of Mary says you don’t need a middleman and everyone has all the power internally to understand Divine Truth. In this book, it states that sin actually doesn’t exist, but is a tool for power and control by using guilt and fear. This coincides with my view of mistakes. Mistakes are not a sin. They’re how we learn and should not be judged with inferiority. This is one of so many reasons why this book is repressed even now. Patriarchy is supreme throughout the Bible, as well as during that time. Women had no place leading in anything in that time. They were considered inferior beings. This is why I dislike calling God “the Father” or a masculine figure. God is a Spirit that is in all things … a Holy Spirit. This book is similar to Gnostic teachings of that time. It states that we are to use personal responsibility and the Divine Wisdom in all of our True Selves for salvation, not through rituals, jumping through hoops, blind faith or another human.

This Wisdom presented in this manuscript is contrary to the Bible we all know and will continue to be repressed because it upends control by a group over people. Fear generates control and a need for personal power. This is the opposite of love. This Gospel pushes us to think about spirituality in a new way. We have the power to find our own unique path to divine awakening and the Truth that is uniquely ours.

Through Divine Knowledge and Understanding, we can transcend the material world and understand a deeper reality that lies beyond our senses. The book of Mary focuses on Divine Consciousness. Interesting enough, this is very similar to what quantum physicists are saying today. Consciousness is the fundamental source of the universe rather than matter. Reality is just a product of consciousness itself.

This book directly confronts the overbearing structures we know and challenges the powers of control we are often bound to. The material world is merely an illusion and true salvation doesn’t come from blind obedience or faith, but from personal knowledge and inner Wisdom. It’s a pathway to authentic spiritual liberation and urges us to break free from fear and the mental barriers that keep us chained to a restricted existence trapped in cycles of illusion. Again, this is mirrored in the latest findings of science such as quantum mechanics. To truly grasp their meaning, we must actively look past the surface of our daily lives and question the things we’ve always assumed to be true. We have to explore our own Consciousness that is our True Divine Self. This means being brave enough to seek out the truth even when it shakes the very foundation of what we think we know. This is a call to self-discovery and personal growth. It is about personal empowerment and asks us embark on our own unique journey to spiritual freedom and reprogram our thinking beyond our current cultural ideas or control.

It is exciting to find ancient texts that explain what is currently taught by current channeled sources. I believe God is still speaking and we are not limited to the canonical Bible being the last time God spoke.
